Royal Garden Chinese Restaurant boasts rich history and flavor. “It is the food that keeps drawing people back,” owner Calvin Wong explains. The 30-year-old restaurant welcomes back second and third generations of repeat customers. Even those who have left Hawaii visit Royal Garden when they return on vacation. “Some of them even ask their mom to send our food to them on the Mainland,” says Wong. The restaurant will mail moon cakes express, for example. Some famous local faces have also been seen enjoying the Chinese delicacies. CEOs from corporations such as Samsung and Sony sneak in as well. Therefore, dishes, including Special Signature Dish Osmanthus Flower ($22.95) made with dried scallops, crab, bean sprouts and egg, which features the sweet tasting and fragrant osmanthus flower, are sure to satisfy.
