Good Times, Food at Shakey’s

Located in Waipahu Town Center, Shakey’s Pizza Parlor is the place to be when searching for fun for the family and great food at reasonable prices.

The pizza parlor, with an adjoining game room, first opened its doors in 1954 in Southern California and now sports numerous locations across the nation that both entertains and feeds guests.

Brad Vandeman is the owner of the Hawaii franchise, which opened in February 2010, and says that Shakey’s is widely known for its famous specialty pizzas, fried chicken and mojos.

“Customers love the food here and we host a lot of birthday parties. We’re packed on the weekends,” says Vandeman. “Customers can expect great food and lots of fun for the whole family. The adults come here and they can enjoy a beer, pizza and watch sports, and the kids can go and have fun in the game room. So Shakey’s really is a family destination.”

Shakey’s also is a proud supporter of Hawaii’s keiki and offers a variety of tools to assist both children and youths organizations in achieving their goals.

Shakey’s Special Pizza (small, $10.49; medium, $17.49; large, $22.99)

Shakey’s most popular traditional thin crust pizza features a crispy crust topped with generous portions of salami, pepperoni, Italian sausage, seasoned ground beef, mushrooms and black olives.

Firehouse Pizza (small, $10.49; medium, $17.49; large, $22.99)

This pan pizza is for the meat lovers, as it’s topped with zesty pieces of hot sliced sausage, spicy Italian sausage, pepperoni, red onions, diced tomatoes and fresh basil.

Golden Fried Chicken and Mojos (4 pieces, $9.49; 8 pieces, $18.99)

This menu favorite has golden fried chicken hand-breaded and made from a Shakey’s secret recipe, fried to a crisp golden-brown. The chicken pieces are accompanied with a fresh batch of mojos, the restaurant’s version of fried potatoes wedges that are deep-fried and seasoned to perfection.
