Chef Chai Chaowasaree of Chai’s Island Bistro recently collaborated with some of Hawaii’s finest chefs, including Roy Yamaguchi and Alan Wong, in support of Hawaiian Airlines “Lei Day for Japan,” a special fundraising effort to help the country in its recovery efforts following the recent earthquake and tsunami. The fundraiser took place at Aloha Tower Marketplace and also featured recognizable entertainers such as Kealii Reichel, Natalie Ai Kamauu and Jake Shimabukuro. Guests enjoyed exquisite cuisine from the 25 various food stations showcased at the event. All proceeds raised will go toward the Japanese Red Cross Society.
