Foodies far and wide can unlock their childhood nostalgia at Shokudo Japanese Restaurant & Bar with its exclusive and very popular honey toast dessert. Every month, the eatery features a special flavor, and August presents Cocoa Pebbles Honey Toast ($18).
Those who are regulars at the establishment are familiar with this sweet treat that boasts warm bites from the toast followed by a cool burst of ice cream, all brought together by the light sweetness of the honey drizzle. But for those who might be new to the concept, don’t wait any longer to give your taste buds the ride of a lifetime.
General manager Ryan Ko explains what the simple yet unique concoction is.
“Oftentimes, we find the inner cubes of our honey toast are quickly devoured, the crust is most often left behind,” he says. “We decided to create a new special honey toast that features all the best parts, added a special milk cereal sauce, some extra ice cream and a cereal topping that changes every month.”
If you’re ready to give this a try, the Cocoa Pebbles Honey Toast is a great place to start. But with the month soon at a close, there’s no need to worry because September also features a beloved topping: Froot Loops.
Looking to balance out all this sweetness with some savory? Well, Shokudo also features a delightful menu full of traditional Japanese favorites, spruced up with welcome modernity. He recommends Lobster Dynamite Roll ($16) and Mochi Cheese Gratin ($8).
