Hawaii’s very own Chef Chai Chaowasaree has achieved more with his exquisite cooking than simply culinary awards; he also has won over the hearts of diners around the world with his combination of local ingredients fused with Asian flavors.

His culinary works are consistent with Hawaii’s diverse culture, and Chaowasaree also caters to his mix of diverse customers. Chef Chai at Pacifica Honolulu presents diners with the Early Bird Special Four Course Dinner for only $40 per person. The meal begins with a delightful starter, then moves onto a colorful seafood Family Style Appetizer Sampler and a choice of one of three savory entrees. For a sweet ending, enjoy a decadent heart-shaped dessert.

The special is offered every night from 4 to 5 p.m. Located on Kapiolani Boulevard near Ward Avenue, this fanciful eatery is the perfect spot to dine before a concert or movie.

Dining Out caught up with Chaowasareee to get the scoops on this incredible nightly deal:

DO: How has the Early Bird Special been received among customers?

CHAOWASAREE: Guests love it! The price is normally $60-$65, but with the Early Bird (dinner) it is only $40. Guests often tell us to make sure not to stop the offer.

DO: The Kataifi and Macnut Crusted Jumbo Black Tiger Prawns with Pineapple Vinaigrette in the appetizer sampler is so creative. Can you explain the preparation of this fun treat?

CHAOWASAREE: This is one of our signature dishes. Rather than making a basic tempura, we coated the shrimp with shredded phyllo dough to create the look and texture. The result is the award-winning dish.

DO: There’s also a vegetarian option available on the entree menu. What is it and how is it prepared?

CHAOWASAREE: The Vegetable Terrine with Green Curry Sauce is great for our vegetarian and gluten-free guests. It is layers of vegetables of sweet potato, pumpkin, asparagus, carrot, bell pepper and mushroom. Then served with creamy coconut milk curry sauce.
