Hotaru Ika (Firefly Squid) Vin- egared Miso ($8.50) features the Japanese spring delicacy as the small squid are now in season and pair perfectly with the savory broth.
“Firefly Squid is very popular, and we want our customers to enjoy these seasonal flavors,” Kawai says.
Grilled Shirako ($12) is a spe- cialty item offering a mild salty and creamy flavor with a pudding-like texture.
“I want our guests to enjoy Akira’s food and excellent customer ser- vice, and to be happy when they visit us” Kawai says. “We continue because of the support of our cus- tomers — they’ve brought us to this point, and I want to do my best to keep guests coming back again and again through the love for my art in each dish we prepare.”
Be sure to check in with the restaurant’s staff as popular and brand-new food and beverage spe- cials change as new items and sea- sonal ingredients become available.
