Raise a glass to the F&B industry

Shokudo Japanese Restaurant & Bar has myriad bentos for takeout.

In support of Hawaii’s food and beverage industry workers, Shokudo Japanese Restaurant & Bar launched Cocktails for a Cause back on Oct. 8. The five-week promotion features five of the state’s best mixologists, who will craft high-quality cocktails for the community to enjoy — with Shokudo’s famous Japanese comfort food, of course, due to Honolulu’s current mandate. Proceeds from each cocktail sold will go toward providing meals for Hawaii’s furloughed F&B industry workers.

Kicking it all off was Nobu Honolulu former lead bartender Alicia Yamachika. Coming up are libations from:

Sukiyaki Donburi ($5 regular; $8 large)

• Dave “THOR” Newman of PINT + JIGGER and Harry’s Hardware Emporium (Oct. 15-17)

• Kyle Reutner, the general manager and mixologist for Ko Hana Distillers (Oct. 22-24)

• Art Deakins, partner with Kuleana Rum Works (Oct. 29-31)

• Chandra Lucariello, director of mixology and spirits education for Southern Glazers Wine & Spirits of Hawaii (Nov. 5-6).

Each cocktail serves two and comes with all the fixings for you to take it home and enjoy yourself. Or, stop by for in-person dining from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily — reservations are required.
