Bo Tanaka — vice president of local, family-oriented restaurant Tanaka of Tokyo — gives full credit to Mama Tanaka for the creation of its latest and greatest menu item: Lobster Fried Rice ($26.50).
“We want to thank Mrs. Tanaka for inventing the Lobster Fried Rice concept, which has been wildly popular so far,” she says. “It combines two portions of high-quality, cold-water lobster with our world famous garlic fried rice. How could you go wrong with that combination?”
For a limited time only, this decadent dish offers a half-pound of succulent lobster on top of a generous portion of Teppan Garlic Fried Rice.
“We just revamped our takeout menu with an assortment of our favorites at a more affordable price,” says Tanaka.
“We understand that our local community is hurting due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and we at Tanaka of Tokyo want to provide the same quality steak and seafood we are known for — plus a few new, exciting items — at a significantly reduced price.”
Another noteworthy addition is the Poke and Tofu Salad ($16). Expect a half-pound of housemade ahi poke and diced tofu with tomato on a bed of fresh romaine lettuce, paired with its signature dressing.
The Blackened Ahi Salad ($18), meanwhile, features a half-pound of seared ahi over lettuce with a house-made mustard sauce along with the aforementioned house dressing.
“Our Poke and Tofu Salad and Blackened Ahi Salad are two healthy and refreshing options,” adds Tanaka.
“Perfect with an ice-cold beer post-surf session. The half-pound portions of ahi are a great value for the price, too.”
Pickup is available at Tanaka of Tokyo’s Ala Moana Center location from 4 to 7:30 p.m. daily. Curbside pickup is also an option, with specially reserved parking spots found outside of Haus Supper Club in the Ho’okipa Terrace lot.
“We want to thank everyone for their support during these challenging times,” says Tanaka.
“We are so grateful for our local community and cannot wait to serve you and your ohana.”
