Salmon Poke Limu ($8.95)

The Japanese word teishoku translates to “complete set meals,” and at Teishoku Restaurant in Kalihi’s Kamehameha Shopping Center, you’ll get just that, as well as an array of other menu items, including stand-alone appetizers.

Salmon Poke Limu ($8.95), for example, is a subtle starter, as soft chunks of salmon mix with a light and flavorful fusion of Teishoku’s house-made poke sauce, sesame oil, sea salt, chili flakes, kukui nut, limu, and green and sweet onions. Utensils will be “poking” for more as each tender bite of fresh fish whisks taste buds away in a divine trance until the next savory dish arrives.

The establishment’s delectable menu grants customers with more pleasant choices, including assorted nigiri, curry, sushi, sashimi and ramen. And Teishoku is best known for its winning misoyaki butterfish. “We sell more than 1,000 pounds of the butterfish per month,” shares vice president Jason Zhang.

So the next time you find yourself desiring a filling, authentic Japanese meal, taste for yourself why the misoyaki butterfish is so special, all while enjoying the quality dishes at Teishoku Restaurant — you certainly won’t be disappointed.

MORE SALMON SELECTIONS

Teishoku Restaurant’s complete meals come in a variety of options that include “teishoku” (one-choice entree), “combination” (two-choice entree) and “donburi” (rice bowls). The Broiled Shio Salmon Teishoku Set (also may be prepared misoyaki-style) is a palatable choice for any seafood-lover. For $13.75, diners can dive into succulent salmon that is served with sushi rice, miso soup, tsukemono (pickled side dishes) and a refreshing salad.
