Kozo Sushi may offer Japanese fare in a quick and convenient fast-food setting, but that doesn’t mean the popular dining chain sacrifices quality to do so.
As Kyle Higashide, store manager for the Keeaumoku branch, explains, it’s quite the opposite in fact. “What sets Kozo Sushi apart is our great-quality food and customer service,” he says. “We can confidently say that our sushi has the same quality as sit-down sushi restaurants but is sold at a much cheaper price.”
In addition to offering fresh and local flavors in its makimono, hand rolls, bentos, donburi and more, Kozo shows its dedication to customer satisfaction by refraining from using MSG at any of its five Oahu stores and by offering a diverse menu that includes vegetarian options.
Locals frequent the Pearl-ridge, Pearl City, Moiliili, Kahala and Keeaumoku sushi spots for easy lunches and dinners on the go, but they’ve also come to rely on Kozo for its party-ready sushi platters that are ideal for any special occasion.
With graduation season coming up, now is a perfect time to consider ordering a Deluxe Nigiri Set ($34.99) for the celebration, which includes 45 pieces of assorted nigiri — such as ahi, ika, unagi and salmon — along with tekka, cucumber and shinko maki.
Another popular party platter is Aloha Set ($28.99), complete with a nice mix of ahi, ika, egg, ebi and salmon nigiri, as well as tekka, cucumber and shinko maki. And for those who don’t eat raw fish, Deluxe Maki Set ($28.99) offers up cooked futo, egg and California makimono, inari and an array of hoso maki — ume, kanpyo, cucumber and shinko, to be exact.
“Our party platters are a great fit for any type of party because there are platters that may suit everyone’s needs, whether it be a small or big gathering,” explains Higashide.
Additionally, local favorites in Kamaaina Plate will be the life of the party, or you can go with Kahala Special Plate for a well-rounded selection of sushi. And for smaller gatherings, the 30-piece Junior Set does the trick.
