Once culinary wizard Chai Chaowasaree was named executive chef for Hawaiian Airlines, it became apropos to ask the following: “Where in the world is Chef Chai?”
When he’s not jetting to one of Hawaiian Airline’s 26 kitchens around the globe, Chaowasaree can be found perfecting his iconic island-fusion cuisine at the aptly named Chef Chai on the ground level of Pacifica Honolulu Building on Kapiolani Boulevard.
The restaurateur opened the doors to Chef Chai a year ago, and continues to “wow” diners who delve into the unique dining experience. Chef Chai’s award-winning interior serves up a contemporary look and feel, features a private dining room and also offers seating at the spacious full bar, as well as on the outdoor patio area flanked by eye-catching fire towers.
As a treat for readers, Chef Chai is offering a Dining Out Insider Special four-course menu that would normally cost nearly $70 for just $50. This special menu is available now through Sunday, March 9, and diners must mention this article to take advantage of the incredible deal.
The special menu features: Chicken Sate with Thai Peanut Sauce, Flat-bread and Cucumber Salad ($7 a la carte) to start; Vongole al Forno ($16 a la carte), which is composed of cherrystone clams baked and stuffed with lobster, shrimp, scallop and crab meat; Crispy Whole Fresh Fish with Chili Ginger Sauce, Scallions and Jalapenos ($38 a la carte) with deep-fried Japanese Red Snapper that is bursting with flavor; and White Chocolate Amore Gelato Truffle ($8 a la carte) — a heart-shaped gelato filled with raspberry sorbetto and surrounded by raspberry guava puree, for dessert.
Chef Chai is open nightly for dinner, and customers can take advantage of half-priced happy hour drink and pupu specials after 9. The restaurant also offers an Early Bird Special four-course dinner available from 4 to 5 for just $40.
