The only rule for ZIGU’s Japanese-style menu is to use fresh, locally sourced ingredients as much as possible. And, in July, the Waikiki eatery’s creative chefs are planning a special natto menu.
“Natto is a fermented food made from soybeans,” explains general manager Masato Hibi. “It is rich in protein, highly nutritious and full of vitamins.”
Delicious dishes on the highly anticipated menu include Natto Soy Milk Tan Tan Soba Noodle ($19), Atsuage Tofu with Homemade Koji Natto ($12.50) and Natto Tsukune Jiru ($11).
“We used natto to create an easy-to-eat and healthy menu,” Hibi elaborates. “At ZIGU, we serve Japanese cuisine using Hawaiian ingredients and local products as much as possible. For this special menu, we used natto from Aloha Tofu Factory.”
Guests to the restaurant, which is located in a historic building, may enjoy the new mouthwatering dishes inside its cozy dining area or outside on the spacious courtyard terrace.
Sushi, sashimi, noodles, tempura and dessert also comprise ZIGU’s regular dinner menu. Guests are invited to enjoy a sake, wine, beer or specialty cocktail pairing with their meal.
Validated parking is available at the Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach with a purchase of $30 or more.
