Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and as families start planning gatherings and celebrations to honor the moms in their lives, Chef Chai is preparing a lobster-laden feast fit for the occasion.

And, it’s much more than a meal that includes lobster, but rather a series of dinner and brunch seatings featuring all-you-can-eat lobster prepared three ways and a host of local favorites from pupu to entrées and decadent desserts.

After three-plus decades of adapting and updating at his previous restaurant ventures in Waikiki and Aloha Tower Marketplace, owner and chef Chai Chaowasaree continues to perfect his iconic award-winning island fusion cuisine at Chef Chai on the ground level of Pacifica Honolulu on Kapiolani Boulevard. Chef Chai, which also impresses with award-winning interior design elements, serves up a contemporary look and feel, features a private dining room and offers seating at the spacious full bar as well as on the outside patio.

During Chef Chai’s Mother’s Day buffet, there will be entertainment by Robert Cazimero, accompanied by his superb hula dancers.

Chef Chai’s Mother’s Day All-You-Can-Eat Lobster Tail Buffet ($135 per person, 50% off for children under 10 years old) will be served for dinner on May 7 and 8 (seatings at 4-4:30 p.m. and 7-7:30 p.m.) with entertainment by Robert Cazimero accompanied by his superb hula dancers; and brunch on May 8 (seatings at 9-9:30 a.m. and noon-12:30 p.m.) with entertainment from Kuana Torres Kahele and Miss Aloha Hula TeHani Gonzado.

Also expect performances by Kuana Torres Kahele and Miss Aloha Hula TeHani Gonzado.

Start off the delicious feast with an impressive array of appetizers, soups and salads including Jumbo Shrimp Cocktails, Fresh Oysters on Ice with Spicy Lemongrass Garlic Mignonette, Fresh Ahi Poke, Gravlax Salmon with Lemon Dill Cream and Caper Berries, Shredded Green Papaya Salad, and Roasted Butternut Squash and Lobster Bisque.

Look forward to a bountiful selection of entrées, including Lobster with Drawn Butter and Sambal Lemon Sauce, Lobster Curry, Salt and Pepper Lobster, Wok-Seared Jumbo Black Tiger Prawns with Chili Ginger Cream, Braised Boneless Beef Short Ribs with Five Spice Demi, Grilled Kabayaki King Salmon with Pineapple Relish, Roasted Chicken with Hennessy Green Peppercorn Sauce and Vegetarian Stir-Fry with Tofu.

An array of desserts

For dessert, indulge in an amazing collection of sweet treats, including Peanut Butter Opera Almond Cake, Chocolate Cake, Coconut Cake with Tahitian Vanilla Cream Anglaise, Chocolate Marble Cups with Cheesecake, and Fresh Raspberry and Tako, a Thai tapioca pudding with haupia cream.

There will be room for 50 guests at each seating, so Chaowasaree recommends that diners make reservations now before this popular event sells out.
