Kalapawai Cafe & Deli loves bringing friends and families together with local grinds. The plantation era-themed eatery pays homage to small town markets and the Hawaii lifestyle. So, when it’s time to give the kitchen or grill a rest, take the gang to Kalapawai, which has four Oahu locations — two in Kailua, Kapolei, and now, in Waimanalo.
Kalapawai’s newest Waimanalo site mirrors its sister eateries, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Customers can dine in, or order takeout and curbside pickup via phone or online through the Toast app. Delivery is also available with Bite Squad.
Sweet or savory, meaty or veggie, customers can satisfy all kinds of cravings. Choose from rotating specials such as Panko Crusted Fried Fish Sandwich, Spicy Pork Tacos, Caribbean Jerk Rib Plate or Veggie Burger, or turn your eyes to the homemade baked goods like Kalapawai’s famous chocolate chip cookie. Local beer, wine and two house sangrias also are on the menu.
Beloved items include the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich ($13) and Da Aina Burger ($14) with a side included for each. The sandwich comes stacked with Parmesan-breaded chicken breast, shredded mozzarella, San Marzano red sauce, arugula and pepperoncini on ciabatta. Meanwhile, Da Aina piles up a Beyond Burger patty, arugula, avocado and housemade spiced tomato jam, all between warm brioche buns.
Those looking to satisfy a major meat hankering can go for the Steak Bento ($13), available after 10 a.m. It comprises an 8-ounce grilled New York steak with Kalapawai’s steak sauce, sautéed mushrooms and onions over jasmine rice and served with kimchi on the side.
Wine lovers can rejoice, too. Join Kalapawai Wine Club’s month-to-month subscription with four hand-selected bottles for $110 per month — it comes with a 10% off dinner coupon and complimentary corkage.
