Nigiri Sushi Assortment ($35)

At the far end of Waikiki across from Kapiolani Park, you can experience a bit of Japanese-style tranquility at Miyako Restaurant. Located on the second floor of the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel, the restaurant offers an intimate atmosphere with beautiful ocean views, especially from the cabana area, which offers a perfect view for of the sun setting over the Pacific.

Miyako’s specializes in the classic cuisine of Japan, served by kimono-clad waitresses in a setting accented by traditional Japanese decor.

Broiled Misoyaki Butterfish ($34)

A favorite in Hawaii as well as Japan, Broiled Misoyaki Butterfish ($34) is available in a Hot Dish Set that includes not only delectable, delicate butterfish but rice, miso soup, Japanese pickles and ice cream as well for a complete, delicious dinner. The Misoyaki Butterfish is also available as part of the Miyako Prix Fixe Dinner ($55) which adds sashimi, tempura and the nightly appetizer to the mix.

For sashimi lovers, the Miyako Assorted Sashimi from Hawaii Platter ($40) combines five types of the freshest fish possible (selections change nightly), including shrimp.

In addition to its regular menu items, Miyako offers ever-changing Chef’s Choice fixed price dinners. The most recent Chef’s Choice dinner featured an appetizer of arrowhead Japanese potato tofu, salted sake pickled ahi, egg battered fried crab, huli huli chicken wings, Chinese style potato and mountain yam and fried oysters with a main course of grilled U.S. filet steak with ponzu sauce, grilled asparagus, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. January’s Chef’s Choice dinner is scheduled to debut Jan. 6.

Miyako is also a great place to host special get-togethers. The restaurant offers private cabana seating areas as well as a special cabana party menu for 18 to 32 guests at $40 (not including gratuity and tax).
