A CLOSER LOOK AT THIS WEEK’S HOUSE SPECIAL: TWO-CHOICE TEISHOKU SET – CHICKEN KATSU AND MISOYAKI SALMON ($16.95)
The Japanese word teishoku translates to “complete set meals,” and at Teishoku Restaurant, nestled cozily in Kalihi’s Kamehameha Shopping Center, you’ll get just that, as well as an array of other menu items.
Owner Jason Zhang, who makes a trip to Japan at least twice a year, brings back new recipes to the restaurant, influenced by his delicious travels.
“Customers have an awesome experience dining at Teishoku because we serve high-quality Japanese food at reasonable and affordable prices,” says Zhang. “We also give stamp cards to diners where they will receive one stamp for every $10 spent at Teishoku. Once all 16 spaces are filled and stamped, diners will get a $10 discount.”
The deals continue for seniors 60 years and older with a discount on purchases every Tuesday.
With so many mouthwatering options and an alluring aroma that hook customers further into the quaint eatery, it may be hard to choose between the several dishes. Zhang recommends giving the Misoyaki Butterfish Teishoku ($13.95) a try. The melt-in-your-mouth butterfish is marinated in the restaurant’s special misoyako butter sauce.
“It’s so tasty, that a lot of people around the island have made a trip here just to try it and it more than satisfied their cravings, they say!” mentions Zhang.
SUPER SALMON
The broiled Scottish salmon is marinated in Teishoku’s signature recipe of homemade misoyaki sauce sure to tantalize diners’ taste buds with every bite.
WINNER, WINNER CHICKEN DINNER
Juicy and tender chicken katsu is lightly battered and fried to achieve a crisp and fluffy texture. It is served with a tangy tonkatsu dipping sauce.
PALATE PLEASERS
The teishoku set comes with choice of white, brown or sushi rice, salad and miso soup.
