The concept of “dinner and a show” is embodied at Tanaka of Tokyo, where teppanyaki-grilled meals come to life through the deftly amazing performances of the restaurant’s chefs.
Tanaka of Tokyo has served local and visiting diners for more than four decades, and the thrill-of-the-grill dining destination is ideal for a family meal, date night or special occasion with family and friends. In addition to the great flavors in each dish prepared just feet away from patrons on the flat-top grill, guests are also treated to stellar customer service and incredible value as all of Tanaka of Tokyo’s nine-course meals include salad, shrimp appetizer, vegetables, white rice, pickled vegetables, miso soup, Japanese green tea and dessert.
Matsu ($45.75) is a popular entree set that includes the aforementioned courses as well as Certified Angus Beef Sirloin, Chicken Thigh and Lobster Tail to complete the combo. Guests will appreciate the superb quality throughout Tanaka of Tokyo’s offerings, including the Filet Mignon, Ribeye and Australian Wagyu Sirloin (prices vary).
Diners can also supplement their meal sets with additional Lobster Tails ($18.50 each when everyone in a party orders a complete meal), including Maine, Caribbean and Tristan lobster varieties.
Prior to enjoying one’s entree, Tanaka of Tokyo vice president Hiroshi Lamansky recommends the flavorful Blackened Ahi ($11.75) that is caught in Hawaiian waters and seared to perfection on the outside to lock in the fresh flavor. Another popular appetizer is Ahi Poke ($10.95), a Hawaiian staple made with fresh island tuna that is marinated with onions, sesame oil, soy sauce and local spices.
Tanaka of Tokyo’s newest of the group’s three restaurants is situated in the Ohana Waikiki East Hotel. Dinner is served nightly, 5-9:30 p.m., and fully validated parking is available at the hotel.
