When you want authentic Chinese dim sum, you don’t have to take a trip into bustling Chinatown.
Satisfy your craving and stop by Yum Cha Hawaii for an easygoing meal that is presented in a stylish, elegant and friendly environment.
Located on Kapiolani Boulevard on the ground floor of Uraku Tower, Yum Cha Hawaii is near but just outside Ala Moana Center.
The restaurant’s high ceilings and glass surroundings give Yum Cha a feeling of spaciousness as you comfortably relax and enjoy a wide variety of dim sum, soups, rice and noodle dishes.
Yum Cha Hawaii’s offerings are so plentiful that the restaurant needs two full menus in order to list the bountiful choices of satisfying dishes.
One menu lists full entrees, like hot pot courses, sizzling platters, six-course dinner combinations, full lobster and Dungeness crab.
The other menu details more than 60 dim sum favorites, such as har gow, pork siu mai, half moon, black bean spareribs, and, of course, whimsical Piggy Buns, which possess an undeniable cuteness factor.
CROWD PLEASERS
Yum Cha Hawaii’s Roasted Pork Belly ($17.95) is a sure customer favorite. The succulent dish features ample slices of pork that are delightfully crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth tender on the inside. It is an everyday menu item, but the dish tends to sell out quickly, so come early or call in to reserve your pieces of heaven.
A dish not found on Yum Cha’s regular menu is Oysters Rockefeller ($7 a piece). This item is extremely popular, as each generous portion is packed with the classic ingredients that you would find in New Orleans’ top-of-the-line restaurants offering oysters Rockefeller. But in addition, Yum Cha, puts its own Chinese twist on it and presents a tasty rendition.
