When Dining Out recently stopped by The Mandalay, the elegant Chinese restaurant in Downtown Honolulu, the dining room was winding down from the lunch rush, as satisfied patrons took their time to finish up their meals. Meanwhile, dedicated staff moved about, meticulously adjusting tabletop corners and fixing little details for a wedding reception later that day.

The Mandalay’s charming and versatile dining room makes for the perfect setting to host any occasion, really. The eatery boasts two levels of spacious party areas with plenty of room for mingling guests, staging entertainment and more.

The Mandalay also is known for its extensive, mouthwatering menu that satisfies all the meat-, seafood- and veggie-lovers out there.

And with Chinese New Year around the corner (Feb. 16), the establishment is readying itself for some new changes, so stay tuned.

SPREAD YOUR WINGS

The Mandalay’s Deep Fried Harm Ha Chicken Wings are the perfect sharable pupu to start off any meal. The dish is even a part of the eatery’s catering menu. The wings have a nice crispy outside, having been marinated in Chinese wine, shrimp paste (harm ha) and then sprinkled with salt and pepper. Once you break the surface, warm, fall-off-the-bone meat awaits you, ready to be devoured.
