There’s a lot to celebrate in a year — from birthdays and anniversaries to accomplishments and, of course, the holidays — and the best way to observe these occasions is to get together over a nice meal, preferably at a place that’s been perfecting the fine-dining experience for more than 40 years now.
Situated in Waikiki, Hy’s Steak House has been the go-to place for both locals and tourists, offering up longtime favorites such as kiawe-broiled steaks or succulent seafood, along with new luxurious items, such as Akaushi steak, a high-end selection of Japanese beef flown in from Texas.
“(The steak is) exclusive to Hy’s,” says assistant manager Jonah Galase. As the sole restaurant to serve Prime Akaushi beef — which is described as having the tenderness of a filet mignon and all the flavors of a New York strip — Hy’s offers the four week-aged steaks as 30-ounce bone-in ribeye ($150), 16-ounce bone-in ribeye ($85), and 8-ounce filet ($75).
Make sure to end the night with a bang by enjoying any one of Hy’s famous specialty flambes, such as Seasonal Flambe Special ($19) or the classic Cherries Jubilee ($17).
Bing cherries, cinnamon and a clove-studded orange rind are flambeed with liqueur and brought to life tableside to create a decadent sauce that’s poured over vanilla ice cream.
And when Christmas rolls around, spend it at Hy’s with the restaurant’s Christmas Brunch Buffet Dec. 24 and 25.
For $85, enjoy an array of buffet items from the fresh seafood bar, spread of hotline dishes, carving station, and a sweet selection of desserts. What’s more, the eatery will be offering seasonal brunches next year, giving you more reasons to celebrate.
Hy’s also will be providing $10 gift cards for every $50 spent on gift-card purchases, which must be made by Christmas day. The $10 gift cards can be used Jan. 15-June 30.
