October already is here, beckoning the holiday season! And with that, foodies rejoice, since the holiday festivities come with unique eats.
The Chinese Moon Festival has come and gone, and up next is Oktoberfest. Luckily for everyone, Wailana Coffee House is swooping in with its Oktoberfest menu available Oct. 13 and 14 from 11 a.m. to midnight.
Feast on traditional German dishes, such as Bratwurst ($16) and Smoked Pork Chops ($17.75). The pork chops come from the most lean and tender parts of the pig — between the shoulders and back legs — and are grilled to perfection for diners to enjoy with applesauce.
Also on the Oktoberfest menu is a Bavarian Breakfast Special for $13, featuring crispy potato pancakes, bratwurst and two large eggs.
All of the Oktoberfest specials at Wailana come with a choice of the coffee house’s all-you-can-eat salad bar, daily homemade soup or a fresh, minty fruit cocktail. Plus, Smoked Ham Shank ($19) and the pork chop dishes are served with sauerkraut, German potato salad, Bavarian red cabbage and chocolate mint cake.
GUTEN APPETIT!
That’s German for “Enjoy your meal!” And you will do just that with the Oktoberfest menu at Wailana Coffee House, especially when ordering Smoked Ham Shank. For $19, Wailana-goers can sink their teeth into a very generous chunk of slowly braised and seasoned smoked ham, which is best savored with the eatery’s robust Dijon mustard sauce.
