Entering Makino Chaya at Westridge Shopping Center in Aiea is an experience that includes a never-ending buffet filled with all the delicious treats your heart desires.
The all-you-can-eat spread features lobster and steak, served from the restaurant’s teppanyaki grill; a sushi bar loaded with the fresh catch of the day; and a seemingly endless buffet filled with 75 daily selections, which is all topped off with a carving station.
You may also order from the restaurant’s ever-growing menu, which recently added an island favorite, Oxtail Soup.
With all that food, it’s hard to find more room to tempt your taste buds, but Makino Chaya also has an equally impressive dessert station that features handmade crepes, fruits, four different flavors of frozen yogurts and sherbets, and now, refreshing shave ice.
The spacious 300-seat dining area is the perfect family-friendly venue for intimate or large gatherings.
Makino Chaya is open for lunch on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. ($15.98), and on weekends, Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. ($20.98).
Dinner is served Monday through Thursday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. ($35.98).
The restaurant offers discounts for military, seniors 65 and over, and on birthdays.
MONTHLY PICKS, DEAL FOR KEIKI
This month, Westridge Shopping Center’s Makino Chaya is featuring a delicious serving of Corned Beef at its carving station.
Torn right out of the recipe pages of Chris Mitchell, Makino Chaya’s general manager, the dish reminds him of the good, old-fashioned meals he grew up with as a young child in the Bronx in New York City.
As with other specials of the month, Corned Beef is served only at dinner every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Also for September, all children under the age of 12, who are under 4 feet tall, eat for free during dinner from Monday to Thursday. However, a paying adult must accompany each child.
