Right alongside their children, mothers tend to have a soft spot in their hearts for comfort food, especially the local flavors served up at Zippy’s Restaurants. So if you want to know the way into Mom’s heart on her special day, take her out for a love-filled meal at the popular island dining chain.
“Moms deserve to be treated special, so we have a special menu created exclusively for Mother’s Day,” says Zippy’s marketing manager Jeanine Mamiya-Kalahiki. “We have a ‘home-away-from-home’ feeling that’s safe, comfortable and great for families.”
Enjoy Zippy’s Mother’s Day specials May 13-14 from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the dine-in restaurants. Grilled Salmon with Crab & Artichoke Sauce and Broiled Shrimp Combo ($21.95), for starters, certainly is fit for the queen of your household. Tender salmon covered in creamy crab and artichoke sauce is complemented by broiled shrimp basted in garlic butter. On the side, devour a refreshing mix of choy sum and broccoli, as well as your choice of white or brown rice, french fries or real mashed potatoes.
You also can treat Mom to Prime Rib ($26.45) accompanied by au jus, horseradish, corn and a choice of starch. The complete meals for both the salmon and shrimp combo and the prime rib include a dinner roll; soup or tossed salad; a large drink or coffee; and, of course, a treat for your leading lady’s sweet tooth. Select from Strawberry Shortcake Fantasy, Brownie Delite or Cake Ala Mode desserts.
Once Mom is taken care of, customers will be happy to know that there are a host of upcoming specials geared toward every member of the family. Starting in May, rise and shine with the chance to win one of three Breakfast For a Year giveaways, valued at $3,000 each. Pick up an entry form with any purchase and submit it by May 31.
Speaking of breakfast, Morning Munchies Breakfast Cards also will be available (while supplies last). From 5 to 9 a.m. on weekday mornings throughout May, every $5 purchase will get you a stamp, and when your card if full, you’ll receive $10 toward your next Zippy’s visit.
The most important meal of the day continues to shine at the restaurant with Spam or Portuguese Omelet with Rice. Through May 31, this flavorful dish is priced at just $5.95 at the fast-food counter during breakfast hours (11 p.m.-10:30 a.m.) and $6.95 at the dine-in restaurants all day.
While at Zippy’s during the month of May, order a Bacon Egg Parmesan Salad ($10.50, dine-in restaurant only). The chopped salad mixes Kunia Farms aquaponic greens with diced tomatoes, craisins and sweet honey vinaigrette, while a chopped boiled egg, bacon, croutons and Parmesan crisps make it a hearty meal.
And because Mom isn’t the only one in the family with a sweet tooth, Zippy’s is offering its Triple Chocolate Waffle, French Toast or Pancakes ($7.85 each at the restaurant only) during May and June. Treat yourself to a scoop of ice cream on top of your choice of a crisp Belgian waffle, sweet bread French toast, or a short stack of pancakes. The whole thing is adorned with whipped cream, double-chocolate brownie bits and Melting Moments cookie crumbles from Napoleon’s Bakery, and a chocolate-syrup drizzle.
Thanks to Zippy’s, the whole ohana will be eating well this season. To top it all off, Mamiya-Kalahiki leaves you with one more fun dish: “We are excited to announce the partnership with Seoul Sausage Co. and founders Ted and Yong Kim, who were winners on Food Network’s ‘Great Food Truck Race’ season three. Our newly created Kalbi Sausage Sandwich includes Kalbi Sausage, kimchee, coleslaw and spicy mayo over King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls. It’s something unique and full of flavor — a must-try!”
