Whether it’s pau hana, date night or a fun evening with family and friends, Chef Chai at Pacifica Honolulu on Kapiolani Boulevard is the place to be.
World-renowned chef Chai Chaowasaree opened the restaurant almost four years ago, offering his signature innovative cuisine in a modern, elegant setting and with top-notch service. Stop in for a great happy hour menu with a nice selection of dishes that are served in the same portion and presentation as the regular menu but at special prices.
“Our food is Asian fusion with French cooking technique and a contemporary style of plating,” notes Chaowasaree. “And our happy hours and Early Bird Dinner make us the perfect place to be before going to a show, movie, etc.”
Here, he tells Dining Out more about some of his most delicious deals:
DO: Please tell us about happy hour at Chef Chai.
CHAOWASAREE: A lot of guests now are not looking for a full dinner, especially a younger generation who are looking for places to hang out. We have an amazing happy hour (4-6 p.m. and 9 p.m.-closing, nightly), which we offer half-price appetizers, $3 beers, $5 wine by the glass and $5 Russian vodka. (Note: happy hour menu is available at the bar and some tables in the bar area only.)
DO: What dish do you recommend from the Happy Hour menu?
CHAOWASAREE: Our Oyster on Ice with Lemon Grass Garlic Mignonette and our Escargot and Prawns is a must. It’s not a traditional French style of Escargot with garlic butter. We sautéed them with garlic, chili paste, fresh ginger and some cream to smooth out the sauce. And we are the only restaurant to prepare them in this style and it’s one of Chef Chai’s original signature dishes.
