Wander into Scratch Kitchen & Bake Shop on any given day, and you’ll notice that the eatery always is full of happy diners. With unique flavors and a menu that changes seasonally, it’s little wonder why Scratch has become everyone’s favorite brunch spot.

You really can’t go wrong with favorites such as the BLT Benny ($13). Or, making a comeback to the menu this season because of popular demand is Chicken Chilaquiles ($13), which features homemade tortilla chips with shredded chicken and a spicy tomato sauce, two sunny eggs, cotija cheese, lime crema and jalapenos.

The restaurant always has taken pride in its Southern-style dishes and diners are encouraged to be on the lookout for more tasty goodness once owner Brian Chan returns from New Orleans with fresh ideas for Scratch’s menu.

A-THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Featured on this season’s menu is “The Elvis” French Toast. For $12, treat yourself to not only what would have been a favorite of The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley, but also many Scratch diners who can’t help falling in love with French Toast. Made with locally made sweetbread, this sweet dish is served with bacon, caramel, peanut butter and bananas. According to Chan’s wife, Aimee Miyahira-Chan, “The Elvis” got its name because the famous musician loved his peanut butter, banana and bacon sandwiches.
