Two weeks ago, L&L Hawaiian Barbecue celebrated its 40th anniversary by selling plates for just 40 cents. Director of marketing Brandon Dela Cruz fondly recalls the day being a success as he shared with Dining Out that L&L franchises from around the country also came to celebrate the anniversary.
With more than 60 locations in Hawaii alone, L&L franchises also are in multiple states along the West Coast, in addition to New York, Texas and Tennessee. And let’s not forget its locations in Japan, China, Indonesia, Guam, Philippines and Malaysia. 40 years later, the restaurant continues to grow so that no matter where locals travel to, they’ll always have a taste of home nearby.
On a recent trip to the Ward branch, Dela Cruz highlighted L&L’s extensive menu and catering services.
“In terms of catering, we offer everything that’s on the menu, just in larger portions,” he says.
L&L’s most popular menu items for catering are meals such as Chicken Katsu and Kalua Pork and Cabbage.
Prices vary by location and it’s best to call as soon as possible, or check the website (hawaiianbarbecue. com) to get a catering quote.
“Our Chicken Katsu is prepared with panko breading and is deep fried until golden brown,” explains Dela Cruz. “It’s prepared fresh at each location.”
L&L also offers healthier options such as its Garlic Shrimp ($12.95), which is flash fried, seasoned with lots of garlic and green onions, and sits on a bed of greens with a side of brown rice.
Indulge in your Hawaiian favorites at your nearest L&L. Be sure to ask about the next promotion, in which the company will be giving away a trip to the Philippines!
