Seated in Formaggio Wine Bar’s cavernous surroundings, the excitement in the air is palpable.

The dimmed lights and cozy tables scattered throughout the spacious restaurant invite groups of people to sample delec-table eats.

Located in Market City Shopping Center, Formaggio Wine Bar continues to serve happy hour and dinner favorites to guests, along with its popular selection of wines. A recent addition to Formaggio’s wine list is an array of organic red and white wines to satisfy customer demands.

Perfect for sharing, Wild Mushroom Pizza ($14.75) features Formaggio’s signature thin-crust pizza, topped with three types of mushroom: shi-take, button and oyster. Loaded with garlic, the pizza also is enhanced with white truffle oil, which adds an elegant and indulgent richness to the dish.

Kobe Burger Panini ($15.99) is another popular option, made with a half-pound Wagyu (USA Kobe beef) and seasoned to perfection. Topped with Mozarella cheese, lettuce and tomato, it is served on focaccia bread along with a side of Mesclun greens.

Listed under “Formaggio Favorites,” Boneless Short Ribs in Red Wine ($15.99) is so tender, owner Niraj Maskey swears a knife is not necessary. Braised for 3 to 4 hours in a red wine-based sauce, the meat is served on a bed of grilled vegetables.

Those who share Formaggio’s love for wine are invited to an evening of wine tasting June 18. The cost is $35 and includes four to five tastes of wine and pupus. Advanced reservations are recommended.

Also, don’t forget about the restaurant’s happy hour specials including five different wines for $5 and pupus beginning at $4.95.
