As if Makino Chaya’s all-you-can-eat lunch and dinner buffets, complete with everything from king crab legs to teppanyaki-style steak, were not deals in and of themselves, the eatery now features a special happy hour menu available every Monday-Friday from 5 to 6 p.m.
Priced at $19.98 per person, the happy hour menu features an array of appetizing dishes, from fresh succulent seafood to hearty protein options. “For a happy hour menu, it’s extremely well-rounded,” says president Jo Makino “We have something for everyone, and because it’s still all-you-can-eat, nobody goes home hungry.”
For those who have yet to try Makino Chaya’s delectable fare, crowd favorites include Snow Crab and Manila Clams.
“Seafood is what we are known for,” says Makino. “All of our crabs and clams are steamed with minimal seasoning, which results in a really nice, flavorful broth.”
Wagyu Beef is also a consistent hit with patrons. Made from 100 percent American Kobe beef, the meat is cooked to order on a traditional teppanyaki grill.
“With wagyu beef, timing and quality are crucial,” says Makino. “Customers can walk up to the grill and we will grill the meat right in front of them.”
With so many options to choose from, Makino Chaya’s happy hour is sure to be a hit for those looking to satisfy their hunger pains as well as their wallets. Similar to the eatery’s regular lunch and dinner buffets, the happy hour menu also includes a variety of popular eats including nigiri sushi, tempura and fresh green salads. “All of our chefs have been in the industry for years and have a good sense of what locals like to eat.”
Located in Aiea’s Westridge Shopping Center, the restaurant seats approximately 300 people and there is ample parking for all.
