Alejandro’s Mexican Food Restaurant’s humble be- ginnings can be traced back to 2011, when founder Alejandro Alvarado started the business as a taco stand
at Mad Dogs Saloon in the old International Market Place in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. Over a decade later, the estab- lishment now has two locations on the island and still uses the
stand to do private catering.
Alvarado describes the Kalihi location as having a “smaller,
more intimate vibe ... the original ‘hole in the wall’ that has been beautified.” Whereas, the Kapahulu site is where the real party is to be found.
