Windward welcomes new café

Kalapawai Café & De- li-Waimanalo at 41-865 Kala- nianaole Hwy. is the company’s newest location, having just recently opened on Dec. 11 of last year, shares operations manager Kat Moon. It is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, and customers can choose from dine-in, takeout, online ordering and curbside pickup.
This is the company’s fourth site, as there are two in Kailua — Kalapawai Café & Deli in the middle of the town and Kalapawai Market by the beach — as well as one in Kapolei.
One of the eatery’s mouthwatering menu items is the Furikake Fish Sand- wich ($13).
This delicious dish consists of blackened fresh catch with sweet chili aioli. It also features cucumber kimchi, pickled ginger and cabbage on toasted brioche. This is served with tossed greens, coleslaw, french fries or chips.

Want to go totally veggie with your meal choice? Kalapawai Café & De- li-Waimanalo has what your heart and stomach desire in the Vegetable Bento ($12). It’s packed with yum- my sliced avocado, spiced beets and carrots. This meal also includes
soy sake-grilled mushrooms over jasmine rice served with kim- chi cucumber.
In addition, the business offers breakfast items such as its best- seller, the Break- fast Burrito (call for price). This is
a flour tortilla filled with kalua pork, egg, pepper jack cheese, home fries and confetti black beans. It’s served with Andy’s Bueno Salsa, avocado toast and more.
There are also a variety of hot and cold sandwiches, pizzas and bentos.
Kalapawai has quite a number of veg- etarian items besides the Vegetable Bento, such as a Pita and Hummus plate and other goodies.
