Serving generation after generation

Japanese Plate Deluxe ($14.50)

Located across Saint Louis School and Chaminade University of Honolulu, St. Louis Drive In has served the community for 64 years. Owner Wayne Akimoto says customers can expect “good food, quality and friendliness of our staff” whenever they visit.

The restaurant features a wide variety of options, from mixed plates to bentos, so everyone can find a dish to enjoy. This includes Japanese Plate Deluxe ($14.50) with mochiko chicken, teri beef, ahi sashimi, two pieces of shrimp tempura, and rice or tossed salad. Seafood Bento ($13.25) features salmon, grilled teriyaki ahi, shrimp tempura, a scallop, kombu seaweed, an egg roll, and rice with furikake and ume. Customers can also treat themselves to Star-Advertiser Bento ($13.50), which features grilled ahi, two scallops, two pieces of shrimp tempura, ahi sashimi, rice and tossed salad.

Akimoto says that St. Louis Drive In would like to create even more bentos and expand to an okazuya-style eatery.

“We have added other local foods to our menu, which we feel is attractive to the community,” Akimoto says. “Prices are reasonable, and along with our old-school vibes, you can come back to enjoy the food you grew up with. Thank you for supporting us throughout the years, and hopefully, more to come.”
