Diners flock here for local faves

Misoyaki Butter Fish (call for cost)

The team at Kabuki Restaurant & Delicatessen continues to serve up great value, taste and service at the Waimalu Shopping Center eatery. Owner John Afong recommends Yose Nabe (call for cost), a popular choice among regular diners. This hot pot-style dish is available as a dinner special Wednesday and Thursday nights only. It features an assortment of seafood, chicken, tofu and fresh vegetables in a tasty broth. Nabeyaki Udon (call for cost) and Misoyaki Butter Fish (call for cost) are also favorites of longtime and new guests.

Customers can build lunch plates from more than 20 different items (prices vary), including cone sushi, which diners describe as “ginormous, it’s huge!” Deep-fried halibut is another fan favorite, as are the marinated chicken and konbu maki — a seaweed wrap with pork, carrots and gobo — that are daily specials rotated throughout the week.

Kabuki’s deli and okazuya service is available daily from 5:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and guests can enjoy an array of local favorites. The restaurant is open Wednesdays-Sundays for lunch (11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.) and dinner service (5-8:30 p.m.) to complement the daily okazuya offerings.

“We are so grateful to our regular faithful customers, as well as new guests every day, who supported us during these trying times and continue to enjoy our food,” Afong says.
