Located just a few blocks from Waikiki Beach on Kapahulu Avenue is Growler Hawaii, the “go-to place to sit back, relax and enjoy a hand-crafted beer made to perfection.” The locally owned restaurant is gearing up for Super Bowl Sunday and has specials prepared for its sports loving patrons. In addition to special pricing on select beers available all day, the eatery is cooking up some delectable dishes as well.
Kick off your meal with the Chicken Wings ($22 a dozen, $16.75 for nine pieces and $11.75 for six pieces). The oven-baked wings are basted with your choice of sauce between baked Buffalo, honey Sriracha, grilled Asian or barbecue. Owner Bill Muneno recommends paring the wings with an IPA if you prefer them a little spicy, and blonde ale otherwise.
Customers can tackle Growler Hawaii’s Loco Moco ($12) with a pale, amber or red ale. This savory dish is a local favorite served with brown gravy poured over white rice and topped with a hamburger patty, egg and green onions.
Meanwhile, Pilsners and lagers go well with the eatery’s 12-inch Combination Pizza ($19), which boasts choices of toppings such as pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, olives, red and yellow bell peppers and onion with three cheeses.
“We like to think we’re a mellow, safe and fun place for locals and tourists alike to come and enjoy a wide variety of beverage selections along with some really great food,” says Muneno.
