Keep your 2018 resolution to stay healthy with the help of Big City Diner. The local establishment offers a plethora of health-giving options, such as stir-fry dishes, brown rice and a spread of salads.
Get started this lunchtime with Fire-Roasted Portobello Mushroom Salad ($12.99), featuring portobello mushroom basted in balsamic vinaigrette, bright vegetables, organic greens, croutons, Parmesan and fresh lemon, served with ancho-chili dressing.
New on the menu is BCD Thai Salad ($12.99), a dish that bursts with flavors and textures from the chopped romaine, peanuts, vegetables and crispy wonton strips to your choice of protein — chicken, steak or tofu — and a spicy Thai peanut sauce.
Or, opt for a classic item like Oriental Chicken Salad ($12.99 Big Salad; $9.99 “Not So Big” Salad). Grilled chicken breast marinated in a garlic olive oil sauce meets Roma tomatoes, crisp bean sprouts and chopped ro-maine lettuce in a soy-sesame dressing, topped with roasted sesame seeds, green onions, cilantro and wonton strips.
Light yet filling, Citrus-Grilled Salmon Salad ($13.99 Big Salad; $10.99 “Not So Big” Salad) packs a punch with flame-broiled salmon that has been lightly seasoned and served on a bed of organic greens and vegetables, and the addition of the restaurant’s spicy ponzu vinaigrette, which is made in-house — much like most of the sauces and dressings.
Plus, when you post a photo of your salad on Instagram, you could be one of 10 people to receive a $20 complimentary certificate. To enter, tag @bigcitydiner on every salad post you make (more salads increases your chance of winning) until Jan. 31, when winners will be announced on the eatery’s Instagram account.
In other news, corporate executive chef Dennis Franks shares that the eatery has bottled up its signature barbecue sauce for purchase. The sweet and tangy guava sauce, which can be found on menu items like baby back ribs, is perfect for marinades and is available for $7 a bottle, or two for $12 and four for $20.
