Relax, Dine In New Cabanas

As part of Prince Waikiki hotel’s extensive renovations, the refreshed Muliwai Deck has been enhanced with the addition of Hinana Bar, as well as other amenities on the spacious gathering place, which is open to the public.

This stunning space offers up exquisite views of Oahu’s south shore, and the culinary team at Prince Waikiki (formerly Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki) has made it possible to dine on Muliwai Deck under a private cabana with individualized service to complete the experience. The Cabana Set Menus range from $100 to $250 per person and can be customized by chef de cuisine Joseph Almoguera, who leads the heart-of-the-house team at the hotel’s 100 Sails Restaurant & Bar.

“It’s all about what the guest wants, and we can help customize (the menu) for them,” Almoguera says of his “fresh island” cuisine. “There will be a server assigned to those dining in the cabanas, and we can create menus for two to 12 guests.”

One particular four-course Cabana Menu ($250 per person) features some popular selections from 100 Sails that Almoguera likens to “reef and beef,” or “surf and turf.” The dining adventure begins with Poke Tempura, with fresh poke wrapped in nori and flash-fried before being accompanied by a poi balsamic reduction. Guests will then enjoy Beet Salad, which is crafted with roasted beets and local mixed greens, candied macadamia nuts, goat cheese and a calamansi vinaigrette.

The entrée course features a stunning array of Hawaii Rancher’s Tenderloin cooked to perfection, Kona Cold Lobster Tail, purple sweet potatoes and local vegetables. To finish the meal, a refreshing shave ice treat is served — a perfect complement to the spectacular sunset view on Muliwai Deck.

Diners can plan their menu and reserve this special cabana experience by calling 100 Sails at 944-4494.

“The view is amazing, and it takes the dining experience to the next level,” says Almoguera. “It’s one of the new options we’re expanding to include here at the Prince Waikiki.”

The Prince Waikiki re-branded on April 1 after years of planning and construction to reinvigorate the popular destination, which features an array of dining options from banquet and special event coordination to buffet and a la carte choices coupled with spacious bar and lounge areas.

Situated on the third floor of Prince Waikiki, 100 Sails Restaurant & Bar offers a “sit-back-and-relax on the lanai” vibe flanked by stunning views of Ala Wai Yacht Harbor — one of the best vantage points to watch a Hawaiian sunset. In addition to serving its popular breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch buffets, 100 Sails also has rolled out an alluring a la carte menu available throughout the day.
