Big City Diner offers incredible value as the go-to “Hawaiian-style diner” for fresh and hearty meals served in a family-friendly atmosphere. The popular eatery has made a lasting impression with its locally influenced cuisine since 1998 and has restaurants in Kailua, Pearlridge Center, Waipio and Windward Mall.
The Pearlridge and Windward Mall locations both feature an outdoor patio area for gatherings and special events, while the Windward Mall restaurant’s Makai Room is a private indoor space to utilize with a custom food order. These auxiliary areas can host up to 55 guests comfortably. The private dining areas are perfect for corporate meetings and family gatherings, and the Makai Room features televisions for sporting events or even slideshows and presentations.
A Classic, for Sure
Da Big Burger (pictured) is charbroiled with cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, honey-cured bacon and fresh California avocado on a fresh potato bun along with lettuce, local tomato, red onions and a dill pickle. It is one of the original burgers still on the menu, and it’s still popular today, according to Big City Diner corporate executive chef Dennis Franks.
Flavor Meets Texture
The sweetness of the caramelized onions pairs nicely with the smokiness of the bacon, as well as the crispy texture of those items and the red onion that complement the succulent burger. For those with hearty appetites, try the Beast Burger ($22.99), which takes Da Big Burger to the next level by adding another juicy burger patty and Jack cheese to the aforementioned ingredients.
Don’t Forget the Sides
All Big City Diner burgers come with the restaurant’s famous skin-on fries, or guests may substitute roasted garlic fries for only $1.79 more, or add a small salad for an additional $4.99.
