As it has done throughout its six decades of dishing up local-style comfort food, Zippy’s continues to roll out tasty seasonal menu items to supplement its classic favorites.
The Shoyu Pork Plate is a popular August special featuring succulent braised pork belly. The takeout option comes with rice and mac salad ($18.95), while the dine-in version comes with corn ($21.80). To sweeten the deal, a portion of the proceeds from each Shoyu Pork Plate supports the Hawaii United Okinawa Association. (Its 42nd annual Okinawan Festival takes place on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 at Hawaii Convention Center.)
This month, try a trio of new bakery items from Napoleon’s Bakery, including the 8-inch Cream Puff Cake ($27.50). The new dessert features chocolate and haupia filled cream puffs covered in whipped cream and layered between vanilla and chocolate chiffon cake before being covered in whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles.
Patrons can indulge in the fusion of two classic treats with Blonde Brownies ($3.60). The dessert bars combine the rich, buttery flavor of a blondie with the dense, fudgy texture of a brownie and the richness of macadamia nuts.
The Boston Cream Napple ($4.19) puts a signature twist on the Zippy’s signature treat. The traditional Napple flaky pastry is bolstered with Bavarian filling and topped with chocolate and vanilla icing.
Through Aug. 31, Zippy’s is extending a special one-time offer as a mahalo for supporting the restaurant for nearly 60 years. Guests can receive a $10 Zippy’s coupon after purchasing $100 in Zippy’s gift cards either in store or online at zippys.com.
The Zippy’s free Zipster Rewards program helps customers earn Zipcoins through purchases, which can be redeemed through the app for their favorite menu items. Every Tuesday in August, Zipsters earn double Zipcoins (some restrictions apply) on qualified purchases.
