Summer is heating up across Hawaii, and Island Popper is ready to help guests enjoy the sunny season with its gourmet popcorn in all types of flavors.
“Nothing matters more to me than putting out a quality product and making each customer feel like family,” says owner Andrea Tournis-Vagenas. “We want both to bring you back!”
Island Popper’s unique menu includes the Tsunami Mix (starts at $3.25) featuring furikake glazed in shoyu with organic butter and kakimochi. The Aloha Mix (starts at $2.75) includes furikake and real cheddar cheese.
The store’s Sealed Flavor Cups ($12 for four cups) showcase the shop’s regular varieties — 50 cents extra for mochi crunch and an additional charge for the featured flavor.
“This week we are bringing back a decadent treat — Cashew Caramel (starts at $4),” says Tournis-Vagenas of the current featured flavor. “We in-house roast whole and half cashews, pop non-GMO kernels in 100% coconut oil, and coat it all with our buttery scratch-made caramel.”
However, popcorn isn’t the only thing Island Popper is serving up this summer. It’s also holding a towel drive for Hawaiian Humane Society. Guests who bring in one or more towels will receive a free single-flavor cup of popcorn. Shoe boxes and empty toilet paper rolls are also being accepted. The drive will run Aug. 20-31.
Finally, there’s Island Popper’s Back-To-School Cup Special (four cups for $12, with an extra charge for the featured flavor and kakimochi), which also runs through the end of August.
“These cups make the perfect party favor, class treat or individual snack,” Tournis-Vagenas says. “And don’t forget to use code ‘HAWAIISBEST’ for 20% off your orders online! This is our thank you for voting us No. 1 for the fourth year in a row (in Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s Hawaii’s Best section).”
