Mother’s Day is May 12, and from May 5 to 25, Jade Dynasty Seafood Restaurant will serve a 9-Course Special for 10 people ($518) as well as a 7-Course Special for five people ($228).
The upscale menu includes two abalone dishes. The Chilled Abalone with Garlic Cucumber and the Braised Black Abalone with Black Mushrooms and Vegetables showcase both traditional and modern cooking styles, respectively. Jade Dynasty’s multi-day abalone preparation methods enhance the dish’s soft texture.
The multi-course meals also include delectable duck dishes: Peking Duck with Buns and the Duck Meat with Julienned Peppers. Peking duck was originally developed during China’s Imperial era as a dish fit for the emperor, and Jade Dynasty upholds the eloquence of this royal, banquet dish.
The special also features Lobster with Mochi Rice in a Lotus Wrap (two lobsters for the 9-course special, one for the 7-course special). An array of ingredients ensure the dish is bursting with flavor.
The restaurant’s bestselling Honey and Walnut Prawns are included in both courses, while the 9-Course Special also has Fish Filets with Sweet and Sour Sauce and Minced Beef Soup.
Both courses conclude with Mochi Balls in Sweet Ginger Broth. This traditional dessert not only aids digestion, but it also represents togetherness — an appropriate finale to a memorable Mother’s Day meal.
On a side note, abalone is now available on Jade Dynasty’s popular dim sum menu: Abalone Snow Mountain ($9.95) and Taro Puff with Braised Abalone ($9.95, two pieces).
