Cupid Crunch Cups (four for $12)

Kalihi’s unique popcorn shop, Island Popper, is helping customers continue the 2024 celebrations with new flavors and old favorites.

The sweet-treat eatery’s newest concoction is the Aloha Mix, featuring caramel, original furikake and cheddar cheese popcorn, available in multiple sizes.

“It was formerly known as the Eden in Love Mix and was previously exclusive to Eden in Love,” says owner Andrea Tournis-Vagenas. “We now offer it in-shop.”

Tournis-Vagenas is also looking forward to showcasing flavors in honor of the upcoming holidays. For Valentine’s Day, Island Popper will feature Cupid Crunch (strawberry caramel popcorn), Buffalo Cheddar for Super Bowl Sunday and Kung Pao popcorn in honor of the Lunar New Year. Between Jan. 30 and Feb. 14, these flavors will be available in sealed cups (four for $12).

In addition to developing these flavors, Tournis-Vagenas is also looking forward to broadening Island Popper’s scope throughout Hawaii.

“We are expanding our collaborations and wholesale partnerships to outer islands and beyond,” she says. “Look out for us ‘popping up’ in select locations — even Lanai!”

As the year marches on, Tournis-Vagenas would also like customers to keep their eyes peeled for new products.

“In 2024, we plan on continuing our commitment to producing a high-quality local product,” she says. “This year, we hope to continue our gradual growth, crafting the best popcorn you’ve ever had and being voted, by you, our customers, Hawaii’s Best Popcorn!”
