Spice up the holidays with skewers

Lamb ($12.99 for five skewers)

Khan Skewer Restaurant is spicing up the holiday season with savory skewers and a spectacular sweepstake.

The late-night, Moiliili eatery is “dedicated to offering guests the boldest flavors of Mongolian cuisine,” explains co-founder Fiona Wang.

Khan Skewer is named after Mongol warrior and ruler Genghis Khan, who was storied to feed his hungry soldiers spicy skewers cooked over an open fire. The dog-friendly restaurant serves an array of satiating skewers, of course, as well as photogenic alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, special dishes and shave ice.

Grilled Garlic Oyster ($18.99 for three pieces)

In addition to ordering beef, lamb, pork, chicken, venison, seafood or vegetable skewers, Wang recommends some special dishes to celebrate the holiday season.

Griddle-Fried Spicy Shrimp ($28.99) is a heaping pot of juicy shrimp covered in Mongolia-imported spices and sprinkled with green onions.

Grilled Garlic Oysters ($18.99 for three pieces) are gigantic and filled with flavor from the housemade garlic sauce.

Scallops with Vermicelli ($13.99 for three pieces) are a favorite among regular diners. The plump, garlicky scallops are topped with luscious noodles.

From Dec. 22 to Jan. 1, dine-in guests who spend $100 in a single receipt will earn an entry into the Khan Skewer holiday prize drawing. Lucky winners will receive remarkable prizes, including a Play-Station 5, Nintendo Switch consoles, AirPods and Khan Skewer gift cards and dishes.

At Khan Skewer, it’s easy to enjoy $100-worth of savory, spicy dishes. And, even with the sweepstakes, Dining Out readers can still receive 10% off their order with the printed coupon found within these pages.
