FCH Enterprises general manager Candace Kaanaana and creative specialist Jay Crisologo share the best ways to enjoy Napoleon’s this fall season.
DO: Are there any dishes unique to Napoleon’s Bakery?
JC: Our signature item is our Napple, a flaky turnover filled with apple or coconut filling, and occasionally special flavors — like pumpkin ($4).
DO: What is your favorite dish from the bakery?
CK: My personal favorite changes as we create and expand our offerings.
At this moment, I would say my favorite item is our Chocolate Haupia Cream Pie (contact for price). This item is currently available at select grocery stores on Oahu and will be available for a limited time at Zippy’s Hawaii locations in December.
DO: How did the bakery get its name?
CK: When the bakery concept was being created, our team worked with an agency to create a name.
The inspiration for the name drew from the notable European French figure, Napoleon. Our pastries at the time were mostly European style so sticking with that theme, we landed on Napoleon’s Bakery.
As our popularity grew there were requests to add to our lineup. Today we offer many types of pastries, doughnuts, pies and cakes. All are still handcrafted with aloha daily.
DO: Are there any current specials or seasonal items?
JC: We have several November featured items, which are pumpkin themed — just in time for Thanksgiving.
Available through Nov. 26 are Pumpkin Coffee Cake Square ($2.85), Pumpkin Napple ($4), Pumpkin Pie ($15.50), Pumpkin Chiffon Pie ($15.50) and Pumpkin Bread Pudding ($2.50). Pumpkin Cheesecake ($25.95) will also be available Nov. 17-23. Lastly, available Nov. 22-23, is a Butter Roll ($2.25), 8-inch Dream Cake ($24.95) and an 8-inch Haupia Cake ($26.75).
There are also glazed Mochizadas ($3.10 each) or Malasadas ($4.50, three pieces; $16.74, a dozen).
