French restaurant offers sunset feast

Autumn White Truffle, part of the Menu De Soleil ($99)

As the sun sets, La Vie comes to life, bringing guests luxurious cuisine in a relaxing atmosphere.

“When customers step into La Vie, we want them to feel like they’re in for a truly special treat,” says manager Alejandro Peña. “We’re all about creating memorable moments and making every guest feel extra special.”

Overlooking Waikiki, La Vie treats guests to a five-star dining experience with its Menu De Soleil ($99 per person; $49 beverage pairing). This four-course prix fixe menu features an autumn white truffle, prime New York steak and hot smoked Kona kanpachi.

According to chef de cuisine Patrick Collins, the truffle showcases a scrambled duck egg with Gruyere cheese, prosciutto and shaved white truffle. The New York steak is seasoned with a unique spice blend and served with Hamakua mushrooms, brulee and custom bordelaise sauce. The kiawe wood-smoked kanpachi is served on buttermilk beurre blanc sauce, caviar and wilted spinach.

“We utilize classic French techniques, but we’ve integrated a touch of Hawaii and the many cultures that make Hawaii unique by using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and flavors,” Collins says. “Our goal is to have customers leave La Vie not just with satisfied taste buds but with the sense of having experienced something truly unique.”

As the holiday season draws closer, La Vie will continue to offer guests special experiences through its family-style Thanksgiving feast and house menu, with many classics and Menu de Saison for Christmas. Stay tuned online at laviewaikiki.com.
