Since 1966, Zippy’s has served a taste of the islands, becoming a Hawaii institution with 22 locations on Oahu, Maui and Hawaii island. And on Oct. 10, Zippy’s extensive menu of island favorites will be available for the first time outside of Hawaii — in Las Vegas!
“We are excited to serve the people of Las Vegas as well as bring a piece of home to those who used to live in Hawaii and have moved to the continent,” says Zippy’s vice president of marketing and communications Kevin Yim. “We’re also excited to introduce others without prior experience with Zippy’s to the brand because we know that our style of Hawaii comfort food will resonate with them.”
After a traditional Hawaiian blessing and exchange of cultural protocols, the Zippy’s Las Vegas diner will open at 10:10 a.m. (in other words, on 10/10 at 10:10 a.m.).
As for the menu at the Las Vegas location, all of the most popular hearty, local comfort foods will be available for dine-in or takeout: the Zip Pac, Korean Fried Chicken, Chili, Apple Napple, Dobash Cake and more. Zippy’s also plans to introduce more menu items over time, so the LasVegas ohana is advised to check out zippys.com for announcements.
“When you look at the menu at Zippy’s, you’re really reading a history of the people of Hawaii told through food,” Yim concludes. “Not only is our food comforting and delicious, it is also a reflection of who we are as people from Hawaii.”
What’s at Zippy’s?
• Celebrate Zippy’s Las Vegas grand opening in a big way! Available until Oct. 1, the Vegas Pac ($16.75 takeout; $19.25 dine-in) is a hearty bento that includes all of Zippy’s favorites in one meal: fried chicken, Korean fried chicken, Spam, chili, a full frank, macaroni salad and three scoops of rice topped with furikake.
Meanwhile, diners can savor scrumptious grinds while supporting the Maui community. Through Dec. 31, Zippy’s will donate $2 to the Hawaii Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund with the purchase of each Kokua for Maui Pac ($9.95 takeout; $11.45 dine-in), consisting of Korean fried chicken, Portuguese sausage, half a frank and Spam over a bed of rice.
Or, start the weekend right by filling up on the Kanak Attack Pac ($15.95 takeout; $18.35 dine-in), a September Friday special, that’s loaded with teriyaki beef, Portuguese sausage, half a frank, breaded fish with tartar sauce, chicken katsu and a bed of rice topped with furikake. It’s served during special hours only (from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.); prices may vary by location.
