Andrea Tournis-Vagenas knows how to whip up popcorn with flavorful twists, and in August, the Island Popper owner is bringing back three favorite flavors for customers’ enjoyment: Mac Nut Caramel, Curry Ramen and the campfire classic S’mores.
“We have two full-time chefs making every small batch from scratch, all day,” Tournis-Vagenas says. “We don’t compromise on quality. We’re gourmet all the way.”
Each week, Island Popper changes its featured flavor, and by popular demand, Mac Nut Caramel is back to start off summer’s last month. To create this treat, whole and half macadamia nuts are roasted in-house and mixed with non-GMO kernels that popped in coconut oil and caramel that’s made from scratch.
A zestier treat, the Curry Ramen is an organic butter popcorn infused with curry and mixed with ramen noodles, peanuts and corn flakes in a spicy ramen seasoning.
For those wishing to hold onto summer a little longer, the S’mores popcorn is the perfect treat with a mixture of graham crackers, milk chocolate and marshmallows. This flavor pays tribute to summer and is meant to bid a fond farewell to the season.
“I want them to experience not only the best popcorn they’ve ever had but the best hospitality as well,” Tournis-Vagenas says.
“I want them to feel warmth and welcome. Our goal is simple.”
For a limited time, Island Popper will be offering a deal of three large bags for $20, and customers can mix and match flavors in any way they want. Featured flavors start at $4.
