Summer is here, and guests are invited to ring in the season with some favorites from Teishoku Restaurant.
A popular choice is the Shrimp Tempura Roll with Spicy Ahi ($17.50). Another delicious option is the Hanpen Cheese ($6.75), which features breaded and fried fishcake stuffed with cheese and shiso.
The restaurant also offers a combo meal that comes with a choice of butterfish or black cod marinated in misoyaki sauce, plus ahi sashimi (from Hawaiian big-eyed tuna) with white, sushi or brown rice for $26. This meal set also comes with salad, miso soup and tsukemono.
“Customers keep coming back because of our great food and excellent customer service,” says Teishoku owner Jason Zhang. “I love Japanese food, so I decided to open a Japanese restaurant.”
Established in 2016, Teishoku offers customers a casual dining experience with authentic Japanese cuisine made with high-quality ingredients by chefs trained in Japan — all at reasonable prices.
Zhang visits Japan twice a year for inspiration.
“Especially, I like to go to the Toyosu and Tsukiji fish markets in Tokyo,” he says, adding that both are great places to find ideas for new menu items.
In addition to its sushi rolls and combination sets, Teishoku Restaurant also offers Japanese curry dishes, ramen, udon and dessert.
Zhang says that he would like to open another location in the future, but for now guests can get their fill at the eatery’s the Kamehameha Shopping Center location.
