Whether on the East or West side of Oahu, the iconic Kalapawai Market is the perfect place to stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
“From burgers and tacos, to pizzas, salads and poke bowls, we have something for everyone,” says operations manager Kat Moon.
Guests have been frequenting Kalapawai Market at the entrance to Kailua Beach Park since 1932, and newly revamped deli menus at the now four locations make this longtime local eatery a continued dining destination.
A featured new item is the Mana Bowl ($16). It’s the chef’s latest creation packed with healthy ingredients: tofu or grilled chicken breast, quinoa, Okinawan sweet potato, cucumber namasu, edamame, carrot, grape tomatoes, pickled red ginger and soy wasabi dressing.
New satisfying sandwiches include the Chicken Sandwich ($16.50) with grilled chicken breast, fresh mozzarella, basil pesto, marinated tomatoes and arugula on ciabatta. And, there’s the Caprese Sandwich ($12.50) with mozzarella, tomato, mixed greens, balsamic reduction and basil pesto atop toasted ciabatta.
Tomato Bruschetta ($14) is a favorite starter from the dinner menus, and this desirable dish is now on the deli menu at all four locations.
Cobb Salad ($16) is another savory new selection. It mixes chopped romaine, diced chicken, bacon, gorgonzola, eggs, cucumbers, grape tomatoes and red onions with an herb buttermilk dressing.
Kalapawai also hosts monthly second Sunday wine tastings at the Kailua Town location as well as quarterly wine tastings at the Kapolei location.
