Raving about this ramen

Takoyaki Tantan Men ($22.50) This is Camado Ramen Tavern’s newest ramen offering.

The friendly team at Camado Ramen Tavern looks forward to seeing “everyone’s big smile” while enjoying a host of Japanese-inspired favorites from ramen dishes and housemade gyoza to delicious pupu choices and even shave ice.

The new dining concept, which launched last year in Waikiki by Tokyo-based restaurant group Zetton, is situated conveniently on Lewers Street and features a stylish urban tavern motif with a menu anchored primarily by an array of ramen and izakaya selections.

Pork Gyoza ($8 for five; $14 for 10)

Camado Ramen Tavern restaurant manager Logan Iwatate explains that guests enjoy the robust menu coupled with the restaurant’s “nostalgic atmosphere, music and service” that come together to create a memorable dining experience.

Tonkotsu Ramen ($16, lunch; $17, dinner) headlines the restaurant’s assortment of ramen options, as the pork-based broth envelopes thin noodles, negi, menma, kikurage, beni gari and braised chashu pork slices. Iwatate explains that this iconic dish is Camado Ramen Tavern’s bestseller, and it serves as a hearty option any time throughout the day.

Matcha and Azuki Shaved Ice ($11)

Pork Gyoza ($8) features five pieces of the popular steamed pot stickers that make for a great appetizer as well as an accompaniment to one’s ramen selection. The Pork Gyoza is also available in a 10-piece order ($14) as well as in the Pork Gyoza Set ($12, lunch) with rice and soup included. Also, during dinner service, Shrimp Gyoza ($9) is available, as are Vegan Gyoza ($8 for five pieces, $14 for 10 pieces).

During dinner service, be sure to try the Takoyaki ($14), in which the fried octopus balls feature savory notes that pair nicely with one’s favorite beverage.

Camado Ramen Tavern is open daily.

Takoyaki Tantan Men ($22.50) is the eatery’s newest ramen choice. Chicken-based broth is accented with sesame paste for flavor. This ono ramen also comes with three pieces of takoyaki to essentially create a combo dish.

Iwatate also recommends Vegan Creamy Tan Men ($15, lunch; $16, dinner), one of Camado Ramen Tavern’s popular vegan options that is crafted with a vegetable-based broth and an alluring medley of vegetables.

Camado Ramen Tavern is open daily for lunch (11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.) and dinner (5-11 p.m.), and validated parking is available at Waikiki Galleria with a purchase of $30 or more. Guests are encouraged to enjoy various daily specials, including deals on gyoza during lunch service, as well as Kirin beer specials daily — a perfect pair with one’s favorite dishes. Also, on Sunday, bring the keiki as kids enjoy free ramen all day!
