As the Year of the Rabbit nears on the Chinese lunar calendar, Jade Dynasty Seafood Restaurant is continuing its tradition of crafting an incredible Chinese New Year set menu that local diners can usher in the new year with.
Jade Dynasty continues to add new menu items to coincide with the changing seasons, many of which are influenced by the cuisines of China and Hong Kong. The evolving menu keeps guests coming back to see what is in store, as the heart-of-the house creativity and stellar customer service delights diners with each visit.
Situated within the Hookipa Terrace on Ala Moana Center’s top level, Jade Dynasty serves up an award-winning dining experience in an inviting atmosphere, featuring dark wood accents and intricately crafted chandeliers. The family-friendly restaurant hosts up to 300 people, and diners are encouraged to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and special events in either the main dining room or one of the seven private dining areas.
Jade Dynasty managing partner Ave Kwok explains that, for the special Chinese NewYear menu ($538 featuring nine courses for a table of 10), “We chose these dishes because they bring our guests good luck for theYear of the Rabbit!”
The celebratory menu is available Jan. 15-Feb. 5, and the Jade Dynasty team asks for at least one day’s notice to prepare the feast. The set menu starts off with Chilled Abalone and Garlic Cucumber as appetizers that are followed by Vegetarian Shark’s Fin and Seafood Soup to represent “harmony the whole year round.”
Diners are then treated to Golden Chicken with Roasted Garlic symbolizing the “phoenix bringing you good news,” as well as Sweet & Sour Whole Fish in addition to Lobster with Ginger & Onions that signify “prosperity year after year, and good health and spirit.”
Guests are presented next with Braised Pork Ribs in Chef’s Special Sauce served with buns to lead to “achievement in every step.” A Chinese New Year meal would not be complete without New Year Good Luck Jai, a vegetarian classic specialty crafted to promote prosperity.
To foster an “easy-going atmosphere” in 2023, diners then delve into Sticky Rice with Preserved Meats in Lotus Wrap, and the meal concludes with Mochi Balls in Sweet Ginger Broth as a “happy end to the meal that brings good fortune.”
A Chinese New Year menu for a table of five ($258 featuring eight courses) is also available at Jade Dynasty with one day’s advance notice; this menu does not include the Sweet & Sour Whole Fish.
Chinese New Year is celebrated on Sunday, Jan. 22, and that night at 6 p.m. as well as the previous evening, Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m., Jade Dynasty is hosting a traditional Chinese lion dance to celebrate the occasion in style and bring good luck to patrons and staff.
Jade Dynasty Seafood Restaurant is also known for its array of nearly 60 dim sum varieties served daily from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last seating at 4:30 p.m.
