As it has done throughout its six decades of serving up local-style comfort food, Zippy’s continues to roll out tasty seasonal menu items to supplement a host of classics.
Zippy’s delights multiple generations of diners as Hawaii’s go-to family-friendly restaurant, and its specially priced menu items bring added value to the experience. The team at Zippy’s, which just celebrated the restaurant’s 56th anniversary on Oct. 17, is dedicated to continuing the local tradition of offering guests’ favorite menu items with a side of stellar customer service. This recipe for success has allowed Zippy’s to continue serving delicious food for the whole family.
Throughout November, try the new Tuna Melt & Tomato Bisque Combo ($8.80 fast-food, $9.75 the restaurant), as well as the Tuna Sandwich & Tomato Bisque Combo ($8.55 fast-food, $9.50 restaurant). The Tuna Melt ($6.45 fast-food, $8.25 restaurant) is also served as a stand-alone sandwich along with the Tuna Sandwich ($6.20 fast-food, $8 restaurant).
“The tuna melt used to be on the Zippy’s menu many, many years ago and we’ve brought it back for a limited time to serve those guests who loved it!” says marketing manager Jeanine Mamiya-Kalahiki. “The slightly chillier weather at this time of year makes it possible to curl up under a warm blanket with your tuna melt and tomato bisque that you brought home from Zippy’s.”
Just in time for the holidays, Zippys offers an array of favorites that can be preordered in time for one’s upcoming gathering (please provide at least one hour’s notice when ordering). Options include the Local Favorites Platter ($43.15 with Teriyaki Beef, Hoki, Chicken Katsu, Hot Dog and Portuguese Sausage), Fried Noodles Platter ($36.15), Korean Fried Chicken Platter ($45.75) and Chicken Katsu Platter ($41.95).
The Ohana Pac ($37.50) offers a variety of go-to favorites, including Fried Noodles, Zippy’s famous Chili, and a choice of Korean Fried Chicken, Chicken Katsu or Fried Chicken. Zippy’s Fried Chicken is also popular at parties and is available in multiple quantities: 21 pieces ($54.95), 15 pieces ($42.75) and nine pieces ($27.55). Be sure to pick up Hot n’ Fresh selections, too, including Malasadas ($15.07 per dozen) and Jin Dui ($7.62 per dozen, $2.05 for three pieces).
“Zippy’s pupu platters and Ohana Pacs are perfect for family gatherings because they offer a variety of items to please any palate,” Mamiya-Kalahiki says.
Zippy’s is also proud to announce that it has reopened its Kapahulu location after it underwent extensive renovations just in time for the holidays.
“In addition to serving the immediate neighborhood, Zippy’s Kapahulu has been a staple for those working late nights in Waikiki, or making an early run to work,” Mamiya-Kalahiki says. “It also serves visitors who are heading out for their adventures or coming back and just need to wind down with a great meal.”
